AliExpress, the global retail marketplace owned by Alibaba Group, today announced it has reached its 100 millionth user milestone. Launched in 2010, AliExpress brings a unique value proposition

to shoppers worldwide with its vast array of products and innovative technologies. Today, AliExpress showcases millions of items from sellers across more than 20 major product categories. The number of active buyers on AliExpress has surpassed 60 million over the past 12 months.
“I want to sincerely thank all of our overseas customers for their support in the last seven years. Globalization is a priority for Alibaba Group and AliExpress is focused on helping global buyers access quality products from China,” said Leo Shen, General Manager of AliExpress. “We are committed to nurturing more great Chinese brands and building a trusted platform that allows this cross-border trade to flourish.”
Italy is one of the top buyer's market by GMV (Gross Merchandise Volume). Other key markets for AliExpress include Russia, USA, Spain, France and Brazil.
In recent years, AliExpress has introduced several new technologies and innovations that enable users to enjoy a convenient and interactive shopping experience. Its mobile shopping app is especially popular among users because of its user friendly interface and features. AliExpress also works with Alipay and Cainiao, Alibaba's payments and logistics partners, to ensure secure payment and delivery.
Today, AliExpress serves consumers from more than 220 countries and regions. Globally its most popular categories include fashion and apparel, jewelry and accessories, women's clothing, and mobile phone accessories and parts. During Alibaba's 11.11 Shopping Festival in 2016, 35.78 million paid orders had been placed during the 24-hour festival. Among the orders the site processed, 58% were from mobile devices. In particular, AliExpress' mobile app recorded the most downloads in the “shopping category” in both Apple App Store and Google Play Store across 41 countries worldwide.
